Dožínky or the Harvest Time

Can you smell the autumn in the air? Because I can! And we all know what that means, the harvest time is nigh. In the Czech Republic, it's called Dožínky.

Dožínky is the Slavic word for harvest season and its celebration based on pre-Christian beliefs and traditions. The harvest wreath is a crucial part of these celebrations; it's seen as magical. It's circular so that it is reminiscent of the sun, the life-giving force.
The wreath was a way how to thank for the harvest. It's decorated with wildflowers like poppies and cornflowers, and with plants that contain seeds.

For the Harvest Tales 2019 on Instagram, I have created this harvest wreath. :)

You can get it on Redbubble and society6. :)
